| Me!! Makeup by Victor Henao. |
I have also been on a medication called spironolactone for a couple of weeks now. Maybe it's a combination of the 2 but whatever it is.. it's working.
I started seeing a new Dr to "remove" the rest of the injections that were in my upper lip. His name is Dr. Dan Taheri and he is located in Westwood, CA. While there for the removal injections I asked him about my skin. Like most dermatologists with their own products, they convinced me to buy some... and so I did. And to my surprise I actually really LOVE the quality and constancy of his skin care products and plan on sticking with them for a long time.
I started using his facial wash called:
Lacti Cleanse purifying cleanser.
It's 100% soap free and it's worked really nicely on my skin. It's not drying and not oily- you feel super clean!
After I wash my face I use his Medicated facial pads called:
Daily HA pads.
This contains .5% salicylic acid which helps with acne. I sweep this open my entire face mooring and night after cleansing.
Then Ill apply one of 2 things:
Either Dr. Taheri's Retinol.2 gel.
or
Dr. Lancers 10% Glycolic facial cream.
Normally in the a.m Ill use the Glycolic cream before my moisturizer and Ill use the retinol cream at night. If I get too dry I'll use the glycolic 2x a day.
The retinol cream has such an amazing texture.
The glycol cream sort of tingles on your skin- it helps to exfoliate and eliminate dead skin cells
"Glycolic acid works as an exfoliating agent because of its high acidity but easy solubility. When placed on the skin as part of an exfoliating cream or gel, glycolic acid goes under the damaged upper layers of skin and destroys the 'glue' which holds dead skin to the surface. "
Retinol is -the pure form of vitamin A.
" It is used in many anti-aging creams to diminish and prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The retinol stimulates collagen production to help prevent the signs of aging. Collagen is what gives the skin its youthful appearance and as we age the collagen and elastin in our skin naturally breaks down. Collagen helps the skin to look plump and healthy."
As my moisturizer I switch between 2 different ones depending on how my skin is.
One is called Moisture Therapy by Dr. Taheri-
it is an Oil free clarifying moisturizer.
I absolutely LOVE this moisturizer. It almost has that second skin feel.. It's super matte but not drying and I just swear by it. I use this only in the a.m.
Or
If I'm getting dry Ill switch to Dr. Lancers Nourish moisturizer.
It's a bit thicker and leaves my skin shiny drink the day.. I notice anyway. So I use this mainly at night or not he weekend when I don't plan on wearing any makeup.
A few new foundations I have been trying out:
I don't wear foundation all the time. Mainly just at night or for an event. But lately I've started to look into which ones work best for me and I found a few I would like to share.
1. Terracotta Skin- Healthy Glow foundation; second-skin effect. #02 brunettes
I have been using what I like to refer to as a "tinted moisturizer". It's super light and this one I actually will use sometimes during the day.
Heres what Sephora says:
2. Laura Mercier tinter moisturizer spf 20- oil free. Color- Almond
I've had this one for a while now and love it. Except it takes a lot to get it matte. It's very shiny and I feel like it gets on my clothes a lot easier... I only wear this one at night.
3. Bobbi Brown SPF 15 tinted moisturizer. Color- Medium tint.
I just recently bought this one because my good friend, afce of Have Faith Swimwear and make-up artist Rachel Bernstein uses it and LOVES it. She says it dries matte and gives just the right amount of color and coverage. I'm going to wear it tomorrow and see how it goes. Update to follow.
Heres what sephora had to say:
4. Make Up Forever- HD High Definition foundation. #153
I really love this HD foundation. I only put this on for events or at night. For me.. It's heavy for the day. But the color and coverage is amazing. Kim Kardashian uses this foundation ( i saw in a makeup tutorial video). It's not too matte and not too shiny.. Perfection
5. ARMANI - Lasting Silk UV Foundation- # 7
I've been dying to try this foundation for a while. Everyone RAVES about it and swears its the best. I went to Barneys and asked for a sample of 2 of their top foundations. The first is the Lasting Silk. I'm a number 7 in this because the color runs a bit lighter than the other. I still have to really use this and see how it works. I was told the different between the 2 is one is a a little more matte than the other. I haven't figured out which one yet but an update will come soon <3
6.ARMANI- Luminous Silk Foundation- #6.5
Same as above I haven't tried it yet. An update will follow <3
7. Chanel Concealer- Correcteur Perfection- #20
I'm in LOVE with this concealer for under eyes. It's dewy and the perfect shade. I can use it during the day with just bronzer or at night with a foundation. Deff worth the try.
I hope you girls enjoyed this blog entry and that this helps you out in some way. Im not sure if Dr. Dan's products are available online like Dr Lancer's are- but if not I'm sure you can call them and they will ship his products to you. If you live in the area go and see him. If you have questions, comments or a product you love please tell me about them in my comments section. I always read and answer them.
Thanks again girls. Another make-up tutorial is coming soon xoxoxo

Amazing tips:-)
ReplyDeleteCan you do a tour of your closet, and make up collection? <3 thanks girl love your blog, so informative, I definitely want to try the Make up forever HD foundation, thanks for your thoughts on this product!
ReplyDeleteJennifer who makes the jacket you are wearing on this picture! :) You look stunning
ReplyDeleteThanks for the new recommended products! Yay, new stuff to try. Do you wear tinted mousturizer during the day? Do you set it with any powder?! Also, one more question off topic. You often say qoutes about love and life etc. Do you have any books you recommend? That you feel helped you;) thanks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love it when your skin is just randomly good for once aha. I'm in that period at the moment! I hope it lasts for a long time! I was wondered if you have tried out BB creams? I have just heard about them and ordered one by misshi i think it's called, but loads of brands do them. I've seen that they are like a really light foundation..like tinted moisturizer but they even out your skin tone and stuff?? Just wondering if you've tried any of them?
ReplyDeleteLaura x
hey girl try clea de peau foundation its amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try the Laura Mercier & GA Silk Foundation!
ReplyDeleteHi jenn! I have always followed your very fun and informative posts and you always provide such good advice and use great products. Keep it up! :)
ReplyDeleteI just booked my first appointment with dermatologist Dr Dan Tahari and very excited to have my skin look it's very best. I have another question, I am still new to L.A area and need to find a fab person that does brazilian waxes, I just want to find that "Go-To" person so I do not have to keep trying random places :-/
I like Nordstroms Spa (Topanga Canyon)so far but looking for a smaller specialty waxing/skincare boutique. If you know of any...
And.... I have tried the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation but did not continue to buy because it feels like I have an oily film layer to my skin and I have normal to dry skin.. Love Makeup Forever HD foundation, it makes your skin/face look more illuminating in snapshots. ;)
Much Appreciated!!
i love the foundations I cant wait to try some!! thanks for the blog :)
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always so informative! love it! Just wanted to ask do you have any eye cream suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHow did you remove the Restylane/Juvederm from your lips? Are you starting over with the injections or are you not going back to that? You really do not need Botox though, you're young and probably did not even have lines or wrinkles when you started with the fillers :)
ReplyDeleteHey Jenn,
ReplyDelete1) Which eye cream do you use? Are you still using the one from Sephora?
2) Also I know DR. Lancer carried his products now at Nordstrom do you think they are the same grade? or should I order from his site.
3) Do you go for Fraxels or Microderms? who would you recommend in the NY area?
ps: It looks like Dr. T doesn't sell his products through his website.
Question...if i use the tinted moisturizer can i put on primer before i use it? My skin is really oily without primer but i dont know how the two together will work...?? Thx :)
ReplyDelete@anna- thanks girl
ReplyDelete@anon.. yes closet blog coming next <3
@casey- if your talking about the pic above its a D squared jacket and Adrienne landau fur wrap.. xx
@chloe- sometimes ill wear tinted moisturizer during the day- or even at night. But i don't wear it everyday. Normally I only use powder over foundation bc the tinted moisturizers I use are already pretty matte. As for books- the book ' The Secret' Helped me so much. There is a movie as well which is amazing and I also have the audio book on my iPod and play it in my car from time to time. A deff much have. xx
@calis- Noo.. I haven't tried them. When you say BB do you mean bobbi brown?!?!? Ill look it up. xx
@ash- awesome thanks.. Im going to look it up xx
@DSK- they are good.. I think you'll like .
@Bay- aww thats great.. My girl friend introduced me to him and her skin is amazing too.. He also does GREAT lip injections- I haven't done that much as Im still trying to take out the rest of mine to start fresh ( its a process). As for LA.. Ive been here 2 years now but still don't know all the ins and outs. I normally do my own brazilian waxes- believe it or not LOL. Ill ask around and see if I hear of a place. xx
@anon- thanks for reading xx
@fifi- hey girl- I use one from time to time from sephora- something along the lines of ice ?!?!? Ill have to look .
@vanessa- Im starting over. I still LOVE the look of pouty lips- BUT my placement was all off. Its an injection of a fluid that breaks down the juvederm right immediately . Maybe ill do a video EEEkkk!!!
@anon-1. yes still the one from sephora.
2.-OMGno way. I had no idea.. Hmm> I would order off his website.
3- For facials in NY I use Christine Chin spa.. They are AWESOME!!!! I do get micro from time to time before a facial. Not sure about fraxels- sounds familiar though.
@anon-Yes of course. And Im actually going to try that under my laura mercier to see if it helps absorb some of the shine. xx
Thanks again girls for reading my blog and leaving comments. I plan to do a makeup tutorial again very soon along with a tour of my closet LOL. xx
Any other request or suggestions please let me know
xoxoxoxoxox
Great Blog! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mario Badescau in NY for facials and his masks are amazing. Just thought I'd share one of my beauty tips since you are always so nice to share yours!
ReplyDeletewhat dose of spiro are you taking?
ReplyDeleteBB is like blemish balm i believe. Its the name of the type of cream..but lots of brands do them! They are a big thing in asian skin care apparently! Might be worth looking up!! :) x
ReplyDeleteHey Jen!
ReplyDeleteI really love your blog and reading about your daily pursuits. We are the same age and I have been following you since you did the best friend tutorials for maxim, the one of you and the blonde and you had cute bikinis on.
You seem to have a great relationship with Alki, at least I pray you two are as happy as you seem, and I was wondering how you two manage to keep a healthy relationship? I live in SoCal as well and I swear it's a constant battle to find someone out here that is true and will love you. Do you have any relationship tips or advice? Even first date tips? How did you guys progress?
LA is filled with beautiful girls and I at times feel like a dime a dozen and that guys feel as if they don't have to settle because there are so many beautiful girls out here. I have been going for guys who are a little older than me rather than my regular tall, dark, fit guy in their 20's who just want to party, but I feel like even the older guys out here are fresh from divorce and are trying to re-live their youth and want to act like the knuckle head 20 year olds again who dispose of girls left and right.
If you can make a post on how to get a guy or how to make a relationship last, that would be great!
hey girl! i was wondering if you stopped or slowed down tanning? your skin looks brighter! (maybe it's your darker hair against your skin)and yes yes PLEASE do a new make up video!! i followed your "night time look" video for a date night and i swear my boyfriend couldn't stop complementing my make up!! you give such good make up advice..thanks so much!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHey Jen! LOVE, love, love your blogs and all of your beauty tips. Keep them coming. Question. Do you have a good sunless tanner you can recommend? We're getting pasty over here on the east coast! Thanks xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe blog was absolutely fantastic! Lots of great information and inspiration, both of which we all need!
ReplyDeleteIt is used in many anti-aging creams, to reduce and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Retinol to stimulate collagen production to help prevent signs of aging. Collagen is what makes the skin look younger, as we age our skin's natural collagen and elastin breakdown.
ReplyDeleteHi, i was wondering if you tried the Giorgio Armani foundations?
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you have a preference out of the both?
Thank you
SIL
Are you still taking spiro? If so what dose and have you had any bad side effects?

ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for this great blog! I really enjoying every little bit of it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you post.
