I'm a little late at announcing it on my blog but yes, we just found out we are having a beautiful baby BOY and I am, SUPER EXCITED!!!!!!
At first it came as a shock to us because as you may remember at 12 weeks I posted a picture on my Instagram saying the Dr's "THINK" its a girl. Well, it's for sure a boy. His wee wee couldn't be more obvious, I was actually a little embarrassed LOL... joking.
We are naming the baby Nikola Alkiviades David. I actually can't decided if on his birth certificate I want it to say Nikolas or Nikola. We are naming the baby after my father, which is tradition in Italian and Greek cultures and probably many more- to be named after the baby's grandfather. Alki already has 2 sons and his first born was named after his father, so our baby together will be named after mine, and I LOVE his name thank god LOL... His middle name is obviously named after my husband- Alki ;) which neither of his boys have so its special to me and Im sure for him. His nick name will be Niko or Niky (Nicky).
The day Alki and I found out I went right to the store all on my own as Alki had to work and I was too excited to just sit at home, and I bought him a nice selection of baby clothes. Of course the girls have a way better selection of cute little dresses, and I am naturally attracted to anything PINK, but I was so surprised to see all the cute little boy outfits.... I just went nuts. Thank god theres cute clothes that are not just Red, Blue and yellow. No, I do not want my baby walking around looking like the primary color wheel... YUCK!!! I like neutrals, and soft baby colors, nothing bright and cartoon like.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your hubby! This is wonderful news and a great blessing. All the best!

A friend of mine who lived in London for a while worked at a store called Rachel Riley. She would always say that so many celebs shopped their. I'm sure they have cute stuff! Good luck and congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, ill have to check it out :)
DeleteIt's a great shop, I can definitely recommend it!
DeleteJenifer Congratulation! I thint, that boy is the best present for mommy! Mother and soon is amazing combination for all live!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I have a "Niko" too! The little t-shirt is too cute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Hope you are enjoying your time in London..While I don't have any kids I have bought a lot of baby items for friends and family members and I think Harrods have the best selection clothes wise and you can't go wrong with John Lewis for basics. You should def check out Walton street for furniture - there are a few cute boutiques (Dragon, nursery window). Fenwicks on Bond st have a small children's dept and they sometimes have some really cute items too. I'd pass on selfridges I find their baby section quite useless! And if you are ever in Westfield there are a bunch of baby boutiques on the ground floor.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much <3
Deletehahaha how cute! Congrats Jen xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations J! Wonderful news :) and what a beautiful name.
ReplyDeleteJust curious tho, it says "lock up your daughters" on the shirt - implying you already know your son will be chasing girls. How do you know he won't be gay...? If he turn out being gay, it's gonna suck for him knowing that everyone was expecting him to be straight. Imagine it yourself, having everybody around you expecting you to have the opposite sexuality than you have. Keep the different options of sexuality open for your child and never assume anything. Trust me, this would be the best for the whole family. I know, since I'm gay myself.
Best of wishes,
G from Sweden
AW G. I totally get what you're saying, unfortunately I think you're being a little over sensitive and looking too deep into it. I come from a family where being homosexual is accepted, and all of my guy friends back in CA are gay. I would have NO problem what so ever if my baby boy ended up being gay.
DeleteHowever, I don't think society is quite there yet to go buy a blue t-shirt for boys that say " lock up your sons". I think thats something you at your age should wear. PLus, you can't tell when a baby is born if they are gay or not... And I don't think him looking back and seeing a picture of him with a T-shirt saying " lock up your daughters" would hurt his feelings. If he is accepted and knows that we would all laugh.
:)
Hi jen I need braces for 2 years im 19 and I am scared can u help. I can afford it. Invisalign isnt an option for me. should I just do it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your exciting news! I lived in London for 6 months when my son was a baby - and the one store I fell in LOVE with was JoJo Maman Bebe - I ordered SO many things from their catalogue - such classic styling and amazing quality:
ReplyDeleteThis sleeping bag was SO handy when we traveled on airplanes - kept him nice and warm. The detachable sleeves & seatbelt friendly design was SO useful.
http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+striped-regular-baby-jersey-travel-sleeping-bags-25-tog-in-sleeping-bags+B3365
Also loved their Breton-stripe clothes:
http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+breton-stripe-baby-rompers-in-breton-baby-basics+B2393
...I must say the website is not as nice as their catalogue :-(
Other great places for me were: Mamas & Papas (for clothes & furniture), Mothercare (I ordered SO many things from there - everything baby related - stroller, clothes, furniture!) and NEXT Baby for clothes.
OMG thank you so much. My mom is coming to visit soon and I can't wait to check out all these places with her :)
DeleteThank you again xx

Marie Chantal in Walton St/ Ledbury Rd have beautiful children's clothes, congrats to both of you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Im going to check her out :)
DeleteOh and Marie Chantal is married to Prince Pavlos of Greece - you can tell them there's a new prince in town. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! Boys are so much fun!! We have one of each and it is night and day :) Again, congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to both of you. Boys are great <3 even though i myself always check the girl's section and marvel on all of the beautiful, sparkly babypink clothes. A girl can dream right!! I don't know much about stores in London but i would recommend french brands when it comes to newborn clothes. They really are the softest, like Petit Bateau and such. For strollers check out Bugaboo, i had one and my boy loved it for years, so much so he didn't want to walk anywhere at 4 years old and i had to be a 'bad mommy' and sell the stroller. Turns out it holds it's value, like a Chanel purse :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much <3

Another shop to check out isTrotters on Kings road in Chelsea, near the Peter Jones. Also, the Zara store in the Duke of Yorksquare is fantastic with a pretty decent children's section downstairs with super cute stuff. Enjoy shopping! Oh and Topshop in Oxford street has got trendy clothes for the expecting mummy. Not frumpy!
ReplyDeleteNext has a very nice boys collection. My friend also mentioned that the quality is very good as well ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, CONGRATS!

Hi Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteI have been a fan of yours for some time now and I would like to congratulate you and Alki on your soon to be new family addition!
Mamas & Papas is a popular baby boutique here in the UK but other places worth checking out are Selfridges and Westfield.
I tend to travel to London every now and then (I currently live in the north of England) and I was wondering if you would be willing to meet up over coffee for an interview? I would love to do a blog entry about you as I find you very inspiring and I admire how ambitious you are. I know my way around London and would gladly be your tour guide for a day, too :)
I look forward to hearing from you. :)

ReplyDeleteYayyyyy I predicted a boy!!!!! Let me say as a mother of three boys, they LOVE their mums!!! Mine tell me when they grow up they want to marry me lol. It's the best. I'm a girlie girl. And I have no desire to try try for a girl. Even though I'm asked every other day. I did I've for my twins, but fell naturally with the third. I never thought I would have any so to be blessed with three boys who think im awesome is more than I ever deemed of. Enjoy preparing for the next love of your life :)
ReplyDeleteElesha from Australia
Why do you say "next one" after the dr says it's a boy? It sounds like your not happy and want a girl:(
ReplyDeleteCongratulations I have 2 boys and they are my pride and joy. Both are mummies boys. I am for Australia so no much help with the stores in the UK but defiantly recommend the Bugaboo prams. Check out the Bugaboo Donkey it can be used as single then th frame extends to accommodate double. Best of luck with the remainder of your pregnancy. Wishing you all the best !
ReplyDeleteLuisa
M&Co, NEXT and you should also always have a look at Etsy..just for kicks for really different stuff.

Ridiculous! :)

ReplyDeleteMens Designer Dress shirts
Congratulations!! I hope you have a smooth pregnancy and a quick and easy labor/delivery! My first was only 8 hours of labor and about 20 minutes of pushing, so not too bad! It was the hardest, most incredible experience I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteHave you watched "The Business of Being Born"? It's a really great movie, (I think it is on Netflix instant stream if you have that). Very informative and insightful film with a lot of facts that I was shocked to learn. I wish I had seen it before giving birth because I learned quite a lot. "Pregnant in America" is also a great film. :) You look beautiful! Love the name you chose, too. Very handsome.
Good luck, Mama!!!
Congratulations to you and Alki. What fantastic news! Boys are so much fun, you're going to love every minute of it!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't live in London myself anymore, I happen to know quite a bunch of shops for kidswear there - thanks to the fact that I spend some time in central London working as a nanny for two boys (a baby and a toddler). Here is a list with my fave childrens clothes shops to check out in London:
* Trotters on Kensington High St
* The Nursery Window on Walton St
* JoJo Maman Bebe on Westbourne Grove
* Igloo on King's Road
in Kensington & Chelsea
* Please Mum - Boys Shop on Orchard St (off Oxford St) --- They won the UK fashion award for best kidswear, and they do have amazing boys' clothes
* Blossom Mother & Child on Marylebone High St
* Catimini on South Molton St
* Petit Bateau on South Molton St
* Tartine et Chocolate on South Molton
in Mayfair and Marylebone
Another great department store, I'm sure you already know, is Selfridges on Oxford St. If you've never been, you may like to visit now.
And make sure to check out http://www.childrensalon.com/, a lovely designer childrens clothes shop in Royal Tunbridge Wells from which you can order online. You may also enjoy http://www.childsplayclothing.co.uk/. Al the shops mentioned above should be found online as well.
H&M has very inexpensive clothes in general, and I do like their childrenswear a lot. Their definitely worth visiting (online).
Happy shopping, Jennifer!
PS: The Bugaboo line is the best. I can highly recommend them, too!
Oh my, I forgot to mention Their Nibs! They won the Junior Design Awards last year and happen to be one of Kate Moss' favourites. Their London showroom is on Upper Berkeley Street, Mayfair, but you might have come across them at Harrods already.
