In my last post I mentioned that I was going to do a maternity photoshoot now and then again later when I was further along because how you're going to look and feel is not promised as your prgnancy progresses. Well, a few weeks ago I shot at Venture Studios in Knightsbridge UK with my husband and then did a bunch on my own. My photographers name was Jennifer, ironic- and she was amazing. She made us feel so comfortable and had some great ideas that we bounced off each other to create what I think are some of the best maternity pics I have ever seen... and I'm not just saying that because their mine LOL. Venture Studios is a great company BUT, I must say I wasnt happy with the packages they offered after the shoot and I should have done my homework and looked into it further before I decided to shoot. Heres why-
As a studio they are amazing. Their equipment is state-of-the-art, they are all knowledgeable of the different lighting techniques and so on...The outcome was AMAZING but when you want prints of the gorgeous pictures you just took, you can ONLY choose their frames- which none of them I liked. They do not offer you just plain prints in any size you want that you can take home and frame yourself and to get all of my beloved images on a USB to have for years to come I had to pay 2400.00 pounds- which is $3,604.00 on top of the approx $400 I paid for the shoot. The shoot which is a great price at $400 for 2 full hours also came with a free session to return once baby Niko is here... I probably wont be going back. To me, having to pay additional for pictures of ME that I feel I should have rightfully owned was BS. AND, the images on the USB can only be blown up to about 5x7"... So to say Im completely satisfied who be a lie.. I AM completely satisfied with how the images of ME came out, but everything else was a let down....
Back to my shoot- So this shoot was also the first time in my entire life that I shot nude- EVER! And I must say I never felt more beautiful or comfortable in my own skin. Theres just something, to me anyway, that makes you feel completely beautiful. Sure Ive gained weight and my boobs are huge and everything is bigger- arms, thighs, BUTT, boobs and belly, but I never truly felt more beautiful than I do now.
Before my shoot I searched the internet for maternity pictures that I would want to use as inspiration. Some of the pictures out there are just so cheesy. To me, the pictures of woman holding their boobs with their hands, or their husbands holding their boobs from behind were just NOT for me. I had a very specific vision for my shoot- calm, angelic, pure happiness... I guess to mimic how I'm feeling inside and I feel like I accomplished that completely.
So here I wanted to share some of my maternity pictures with you and hope that you will get inspired for your next maternity shoot.

| Wearing the jewelry from my wedding day |
Im now just about 25 weeks pregnant and this journey has been amazing. Ive been really lucky throughout my pregnancy to not have not even 1 day of morning sickness- but I did suffer from migraines until I realized that chocolate was the causing factor. I dont have any stretch marks ( Thank god ) and to keep my skin moisturized I have been using Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and a little body butter I made myself which I will blog about in my next post. I have however gained more weight than I wanted, or thought I would have gained in my entire pregnancy ( sighs ). I did start really underweight and I truly believe my body NEEDED food my first trimester to make my pregnancy a strong one, and since my baby has had no issues I believe the extra weight was a blessing for him.
The second trimester my cravings have slowed down a lot. It went from craving bread , cheese and hearty foods- to craving fresh fruit, juice, and veggies. I couldn't workout my first trimester due to Dr's orders but once I hit 12 weeks I was allowed to. With the move to London from California and just being tired, cold, and not used to my surrounding I haven't been exercising as much as I thought I would either. Luckily, there are 6 floors in our London home so I do get a pretty good workout daily just by going up and down them- and Ive tried Prenatal Yoga but haven't stuck with it. I do go to a gym and just walk on the treadmill occasionally for 30 minutes and I have just started lifting light weights at the gym to keep my arms and legs toned, everything is starting to look really soft. The day Im going to give birth I will weigh myself and post a picture of the scale. LOL
My goal is to deliver Naturally and Id like to try to go without an epidural like my mother did.
I also plan to breastfeed for atleast a year- or pump towards the last few months.
Has anyone ever heard of Placenta pills ?!?!? Ive been going back and forth with blogging about this but I may just put it out there.
If I had to list the things I crave and eat the most in my second trimester, it would be-
-Fresh cut mango
- Unhomogenized Milk
-Scrambled eggs with cheese
-Kiwi
-Oatmeal with honey
Ill do another post soon on my favorite products that I have been using as well as Whats on my baby registry. Anything you would like to know or for me to discuss please leave me a comment.

O, you are so lovely mummy :) Wish you all the best for you and your baby.

Jennifer, you look stunning! Amazing photos done with such class. It's too bad they are holding them from you. You have been a true inspiration to my girlfriends & I - loving yourself while you are preg is the most important thing you can do. You're beautiful, and we can't wait to see baby Niko!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best.
K
Aw thank you so so much. It is unfortunate, and if the photos didnt come out so amazing I wouldnt have spent that money to have them on a usb. They are a great studio but I wish they would change their terms

Mederma stretch mark cream is amaze...I used all the best stuff including milk baths but the only thing that prevented and erased any sign of stretch marks was that lotion...also most stretch marks don't show up til the end of pregnancy....mine a week before I had my son....but I used that lotion and they all went away......ps they are hereditary.......good luck!
DeleteWow, so nice photos! You will be beautiful mom! :)
ReplyDeleteI plan to take nude maternity photos if I have a baby! Your's are so beautiful total inspiration! And I love havefaith bikinis! :)
ReplyDeleteyay!! Thank you :)
DeleteSo happy you finally did a post! The pictures are beautiful I love the one with all of the ultrasound pictures. I am really interested in your stretch mark remedy! I would love to hear about what vitamins or supplements you've been taking if any!
ReplyDeleteYou're the best!♥
Jennifer you look amazing. Pregnancy is such a wonderful gift from God. I know you will be amazing loving parents.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the photos go, that's just ridiculous that they only let you get prints the way they want to do them. I have a friend who does photography and her packages never are like that. You get to choose prints or cd, and order it how you like and choose a frame if you like it. Hopefully you will find an amazing photographer for the newborn pictures :)
Your weight is ok. Everyone gains different amount. Your keeping your pregnancy healthy unlike some other woman who dont take care of themselves and almost starve themselves, just to not gain pregnancy weight. You still look gorgeous and you rock everything you wear :) I did not get lucky and I got stretch marks :( Id love to see your swimwear line make some tankini's :) something still that is sexy but covers the whole tummy. That would be amazing. Id love to rock something from your line. Keep up all of the wonderful stuff your doing and keep being that great person you are.
Its a great idea. Once we get as a company im sure we will expand into all different areas.

do u have ant ideas to help w old stretch marks ... my girlfriend is so self conscious about hers and i would love to help her with it. anything helps. thand you
DeleteOh my God, you will be the most beautiful mum I' ve ever seen! You are soo lucky that you have that amazing man in your life and baby Niko will be the cutest boy ever ;)

Deleteoh my god. you look absolutely stunning in every photo and i love the ones of you and Alki!! i hope i look like this when im pregnant but im not surprised that you do since you are photogenic to begin with!! best wishes!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS Jeniifer..you are by far the most stunning pregger girl ever.
ReplyDeleteso im also preggers and want to get the pram but some old lady at the grocery store told me it was bad luck to get it ..i don't believe in that all, your thoughts?
big kiss gorgeous
Bad luck and superstition is only what you actually believe in. I dont believe in that at all. Put an evil eye on yours if and when you get one.

Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful pictures, and YAY! for the new blog post. Thrilled to know you liked the PB stroller blanket. Unfortunately, I don't have a twitter account or else I would have responded.
Hope all is well in your world. Thank you, for ALL that you share with us. And I'm LOVING the LK workouts. I'm developing "caps" on my shoulders. : ) Great big GIANT hugs from Boston.
MARIA!!!!!!!! I was hoping you would get in touch- I wanted to make sure you knew how grateful I was for the blanket and that I received it period :) Thank you thank you, you're so thoughtful.

You look great! Love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous photos! That's terrible that you couldn't get what you wanted afterwards. That would be heartbreaking!
ReplyDeleteI love and enjoy your blogs. Your family is very blessed and once your baby looks at everything youve done for him since you found out you were pregnant hes going to cherish them forever and say My Mommy Loves Me....since day 1.
ReplyDeleteMy Beautiful Jenn...CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! You look Amazing ") Wishing you all the best and hope that baby Niko arrives Happy and Healthy. Love, Chrissie
ReplyDeleteHello Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteyou look gorgeous and I will follow you ever! I am happy for your pregnancy! you're a beautiful mom and the photos are too beautiful! I saw that you read The secret .. I wanted to ask you how do you get anything you want in life!you have a magic life and I dream your life!!how you use the secret in your life? thanks and scuse me for English but I am Italian:)kiss
By picturing, seeing yourself in your vision living your dream and really believing it will happen. And when picturing yourself in that situation feeling now how you would feel when you received, accomplished, made or whatever it is your want- feeling as if you could cry because your so so happy. I hope that makes sense.
DeleteYour pictures turned out amazing!! Congrats on the upcoming little blessing :)
ReplyDeletewww.typicaldomesticbabe.com
Wow! Really lovely photos Jennifer but I am as appalled as you that you weren't given full size digital files for the amount they were asking. To only be able to blow them up to 5x7 is just crazy. Was this the only digital package they offered or was there an option for purchasing larger ones?
ReplyDeleteHaving worked as a photographer for the past 4 years in Hampshire, UK, I know for a fact that places like Venture do not have to charge the amounts that they do.
I would be sooooo happy with my pregnancy photos if they turned out like yours, but I'm certain that you can find a much more reasonable photographer for your next pregnancy shoot and baby's first photoshoot.
Pregnancy really suits you, you are blooming! :-)

Aw thanks emma. I know its unfortunate. I will research private for hire photogs for my sons shoot and make sure to cross my T's and dot my I's before booking it.

Where about in London do you live?! xox loving the pics - great idea
ReplyDeleteJen you look beautiful but may you please do a post on the law of attraction/The secret and how you used it? While I love what you post, inside beauty is just as great as outside beauty and it would be wonderful to know how you used the LOA and stayed positive and strong even through rough times to manifest your beautiful life. Stay blessed!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Yes, I'd be super interested in that as well! It would make a really great blog post if she described how she discovered the law of attraction and give some practical tips on how she is using it. I mean, who wouldn't want to have her life, right? :-)
DeleteYeah, that is also what I really wanna know!I hope Jen helps us out with a good detailed post ^_^ That would be great! *crosses fingers*
DeleteIll try to do something. I think I explained it in a comment above. Its all about visualization, and feeling the feelings NOW that you would feel once you have received what it is that you want. Have you guys read the book AND watched the movie?
DeleteYes I have read the book The Secret several times(and others which talk about LOA) and watched the movie. Manifestations can be tricky, if they were easy most then most people who have watched the film would have what they want. I guess it's like weight loss, it's easy to tell someone eat healthy and exercise and you will lose weight but many people still face struggles through the process and get stuck. With manifestations there's limiting beliefs, negativity and all sorts of other things. That's why when I see someone who has successfully managed to manifest especially something big, I really want to learn from them. I guess that's why we were asking about the details. Thank you for replying. Stay blessed.
DeleteBeautiful pictures! You are gorgeous :) If I get pregnant one day these pictures are definitely an inspiration for my shoot.
ReplyDeleteAll the best xx
Pregnancy is suits you, for sure. I wish you luck with the natural child birth, that pain was freakin crazy! I've heard great things about placenta pills, especially for the baby blues! I can't wait to see what baby Niko looks like
ReplyDeletehttp://sensationalfinds.blogspot.com
Oh my goodness, you like so beautiful. Moreover, I so appreciate your honesty and transparency about pregnancy, and well, life. It's so rare to find people who are so forthcoming. You are so refreshing.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear more about your baby purchases. Also, I would enjoy hearing/seeing more about your homes. How do you determine your interior design? How do you manage your household? Any organization tricks?
Thank you!
A baby blog is on the way about my "birthing plan" or wants, and products I registered for and so on.
DeleteA house blog would be a cute idea too :)
Thanks for reading
You are beautiful inside and out. Thank you for sharing your experience. You deserve all the blessings that have come your way!! I hope the rest of and Alki's journey is as beautiful as these past few months!
ReplyDelete-Rach
Your body needs the fat you have gained, and if you are breastfeeding it WILL come off without deliberate effort on your part, trust me. It sounds like you are eating healthy foods and that's all that matters. It would be different if you were pigging out and letting yourself go on junk food; that is where many moms go wrong. Also, keep in mind when you breastfeed, your body actually needs even MORE calories than when you were pregnant! So I wouldn't recommend setting your heart on a strict diet after the baby comes. Just trust me that your body truly needs this stored fat for lactation and when you see how it melts off you will be glad you had those fat stores... if you don't have enough, your milk quantity/quality may not be great. Keep up the good work and good attitude mama!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice. Baby Niko has been growing so healthy and perfect I dont for 1 second regret the weight I have gained- but coming from a life of working out 4-5 days a week and always eating a strict diet- its a definite change.

ReplyDeleteI did natural birth, encapsulated my placenta, and breastfed for two years (pumped for one). I would suggest ready Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth. And I would recommend the placenta encapsulation.
Trust your instincts! Mama knows best!
I plan on getting my placenta encapsulated Raw and thank you for recommending the book. I will check it out

I agree with doing a post on the law of attraction/ the secret! Pretty please!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely beautiful!! The pictures turned out amazing! You and Alki look really happy :) That's really disappointing about you not being able to get the full size pictures on the USB stick and they charged you so much! Maybe they might reconsider now that you blogged about it.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! I am obsessed with your maternity photos! The picture of you with the sheer fabric around your body and flowers in your hair is the most amazing image I have ever seen of an expecting mother! A friend of mine follows you on Instagram and I actually noticed that image and started following you myself! I read your blog postings and I love how open you are with your life and experiences. I am from NY, I am your age as well, and I have been trying for a year and a half to get pregnant. After months of trying I visited a fertility doctor and went through all of the same tests as you. Including the hsg X-ray! I have pcos so I do not have normal cycles, they are usually around 40 days or more! My dr suggested taking the hcg shot and clomid but I have been hesitant to try it. After reading your blog and seeing how you went through the same journey has really been a breath of fresh air! I have been strongly considering that option now. So many of my friends got pregnant right away and do not understand what I am going through. I just want to thank you for this blog it really helps me to stay positive! I am so extremely happy you are expecting and love to see your baby bump growing!!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you so much for your message and I wish you all the best on your journey.

Que bella! I regret not doing any maternity photos and sadly have very few photos of my pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me to get back to fitness and health; thank you. As for the placenta pills: My great-grandfather was a homeopathic dr and prepared placentas for mothers in powder form. I wish I had done the pills. Many animals eat their placenta after giving birth to help heal. Just make sure you clear it with the hospital/dr......sometimes they have policies against it. And it would be terrible to find that out when it is too late.
Breastfeeding my son was amazing and it will also help your body heal..blessings to you and your family!
P.S.- I second the tankini request when hfs expands their line (fingers crossed)....maybe w/underwire? My girls are natural and need some help ;)ess
hahah will work on the tankini idea ;)
DeleteThanks for reading xx
You are seriously the most beautiful woman inside and out! Your blog is so fascinating to me and I love reading your posts and seeing your pictures! I LOVE your style and positive attitude towards life. I feel like you truly do work hard for what you have and are rewarded in return. Your baby is going to be so beautiful. Your pictures are beautiful. You look so stunning. Every pregnant woman is gorgeous in my eyes. We are a walking miracle in action growing these living beings inside of us. So i have been able to sort of walk this journey right behind you. you being 25 weeks and im currently 20 1/2 weeks right now. Its fun to relate and have similar experiences and differences as well. You look beautiful! I love your blog and since my hubby and I finally managed to get pregnant after over a year of trying I'm especially loving your pregnancy posts! I hope I look as fabulous as you do throughout your pregnancy! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!!! Your vision was amazing and continue taking selfies... You'll be thankful you did... As for your photographer, The samething happened to us with our baby's pictures. We spent $700.00 for 7 pictures on a flashdrive. Needless to say pictures came out beautiful but I felt cheated as well.
ReplyDeleteAs for breastfeeding, I applaud you for it. It will be hard the first month but DON'T give up, it gets better after month 2.
Beautiful pregnancy photos, Jennifer!! I especially love the ones with the flower head bands, you look really glowing.
ReplyDeleteCheers from kangaroo land ;-)
I totally had a natural birth at home, it was the best, easiest thing I have ever done. I also worked out almost daily up until two days before I had him, and I think that made it so easy. I'm actually scared to do it again because I don't think I could get that lucky twice. I expected the worst pain in my life but, to me, getting my wisdom teeth pulled hurt worse! It does feel like menstrual/ diarrhea cramps, just more intense, but nothing you can't handle. Don't let people tell you you're crazy, it is extremely rewarding. Also, I'm coming up on a year and a half breastfeeding, it was hard at first, just don't give up. No one tells you its painful at first, and online you'll find things saying "if it hurts, you're doing it wrong" and such, and googling caused me a lot of unnecessary stress. I was doing everything right, nipples aren't used to getting sucked on 10+ times a day. Hehe. They get sore. I'm so tired of breastfeeding though, and weaning has definitely been the hardest part. It is a nightmare! I wanted to quit at a year...but 6mos past a year, we're still ay it. Lastly, I did encapsulated my placenta and took them. I didn't finish them, they're actually still in the freezer, but I do think they help. They're chocked full of hormones and if you consider how many women have postpartum depression, due to the rapid decrease in hormones after pregnancy, you'd wonder why more women don't try it. We are the only animals that don't eat our placenta. My midwife also said that you can give them to your child in times of stress, such as their first day of school, because it technically is their organ. It was the organ that gave them life, an extension of them. I don't know if I'm crazy or not though but when I take them it almost feels like a xanex. Like an anti-anxiety medicine lol. Anyway, good luck! And watch The Business of Being Born, if you haven't already. Our bodies were built to give life. You are a strong, beautiful woman who can do anything! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I plan to have a natural birth at the hospital, I just feel safer there but dont want any interference from drugs. And encapsulating my placenta in raw form seems so right for me as well. Thanks for sharing your story.

Your pictures turned out amazing Jen, I will definitely have to refer to them whenever I get pregnant and I want to have a pregnancy photoshoot. Sorry to hear about that company, it's too bad when people impose such silly rules.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the rest of your pregnancy! -xoxo-
I think it's absolutely WONDERFUL you are taking all these precautions and doing things the natural way for your son. You look great and these are the best pregnancy photos I've ever seen, classy and sexy at the same time! I have a way to go before I have a family, but you are an inspiration for me when I do decide to have a child!!
ReplyDeleteJen you look amaZing as always, you look so peaceful and happy with Alki.
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you, you are the most amazing person I know and are very blessed

As far as the photographer I would write a review about the studio on the internet so everyone in London could read it....
love mom
Love your blog, Jennifer! Just wanted to give you a heads up that you may want to quickly edit the second to last sentence of your blog. I had to do a double take and re-read to understand that you really meant "using" and not "suing." (My first reaction was...WHAT? She's has a list of products she's SUING?)
ReplyDeletehahahha I saw that. Thank you for letting me know.
DeleteHey pretty lady! I have been following your blog forever and just wanted to post and say how absolutely gorgeous you look preggers!! I was way under weight before I got pregnant too and ended up gaining so much more than I wanted to. You'll loose it super quick though, especially if you're breastfeeding! I wish you so much luck with it, I had problems with my milk coming in the whole time and it dried up after breastfeeding for 4 months, even pumping didn't help. I was so sad. And YAY for no stretch marks!! I was sure I would get them, being Italian and like everyone I know got some, but I didn't either! Bio oil is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat is totally annoying about your photographer too. That price it outrageous and with purchasing the digital files, you should be able to print them whatever size you want! I have been shooting for years and give my clients the full size image, they can blow it up however big they want, and I love when they do! I agree, they are too beautiful not to show off though :)
xx
I love the pics!!! The ones where you are wearing your wedding jewelry! uh beautiful! I am curious what your birthing plan is? I would love to hear what you have researched, and your thoughts! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Although you said posing with hands covering the breasts weren't for you but that's exactly what you've done in a few? Don't get me wrong I love them all, and you're a beautiful mum - yummy mummy as I would say :)
ReplyDeleteThank you- but my hands arent on my boobs covering my nipple which was what I meant, nor are my husband hands literally holding on boobs. Yes, my arms are covering me nipples but thats not what I meant. If you google maternity pics Im sure youll see some :) Im not a hypocrite lol

DeleteP.s you should do a blog on the book "the secret " ;)
I just tried posting but it didnt go through so I'll try again...
ReplyDeleteI must admit I'm a little envious of your phots! Their are great! I'm posting because you had mentoin placenta encapsulation. I did it after I had my son and will do it after all of my subsequent pregnancies. I researched it and spoke to my doctor about it, who made a very good point: there is no negative effect it can have on your body. I think they did help my hormones balance back out after the shock the body goes through after birthing a child. If you think about it; your placenta carries so much hormones and when it comes out of your body it is just a shock of a loss... Anyway, I chose to have them prepared the raw foods method (basically it's dhydrated like a piece of beef jerky *hope I haven't effectivly ruined beef jerky for you!* then ground up and encapsulated) because I wanted it the best I could get it and if it reaches above x amount of degrees it starts to kill the hormones and good stuff that are beneficial and I didnt want it prepared with ginger because I just wanted the placenta in the purist form possible. Mine yielded 6 weeks worth of pills which I took 3x/day. And one of the best parts for me was the look of horror and shock on people's faces after I told them I had my placenta encapulated for ingestion! ;)
Hope this helped!
hahhaha I plan to do the same. Thank you for sharing your story. Makes me feel like IM really doing the right thing
DeleteYour maternity photos are absolutely gorgeous - you look stunning and have that new mama "glow" going on! I am brand new to your blog and enjoying it so much. You are a beautiful person inside and out. My husband and I are so blessed to have 4 kids...now my "babies" are 18, 17, 15 and 12! Enjoy every single second, because you'll blink and they'll be grown up! Blessings to you, Alki, baby Niko and your pups!

Hi Jennifer, I love your blog! I too, like the above comment, would like to know more about your experience with The Secret and how you've used it to attract the life you live today. Did you ever create a vision board after reading it? What were you envisioning before meeting your husband? Please, please share your thoughts! Thank you for everything you've been sharing through your blog so far! You're such an inspiration! -Genn.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how one's perception changes. When I first heard of you, (through Shahs of Sunset and the mention of Have Faith) I honestly thought the total opposite of what I think of you today. I have read your blog and somewhat tried to get to know you (which sounds creepy) and I have realized that with everything you have, you're SO different than the perception you give off. I really believe that you're a genuine person and you try to help people through your discussions on this blog, etc. I think your mindset is so positive and I'm becoming a huge fan of yours. I'm just a 21 year old struggling student, don't have an kids and not married and I still ready your pregnancy blog entries lol. Good luck with everything Jennifer, I hope your delivery goes amazingly well and baby Niko is born healthy and happy!

I am not pregnant yet, but my husband and I discussed the placenta pills as well. I've been researching it on and off for a few years now and it makes a lot of sense. We are the only species that doesn't eat our placenta and it's full of vitamins and nutrients that have kept the baby alive. I think it's beautiful in an odd way. From what I understand, a midwife or someone qualified, takes the placenta and has it dried/dehydrated, and then placed into capsules to take for the first few weeks post partum. This is supposed to help with post partum depression, putting a lot of nutrients back into your body that had been depleted, etc.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your natural pregnacy. You seem like a strong woman. You can totally do this.
I admire you so much, your husband is this rich guy that can afford it all and over price things still outrage you..LOVE IT!
ReplyDeletehahahhaha... You dont stay "rich" by spending it stupidly.

So you're going to show Nikki naked pictures of yourself when he grows up?
ReplyDeleteYay! So fitting to stumble across this on International Woman's Day! How better to honor being a woman than this? Absolutely breathtaking. A perfect embodiment of angelic happiness! If this is what it means to be a Trophy Wife and MILF, you'd have to be insane (of blind) not to celebrate that. What a lucky baby boy Niko is to have such a beautiful mommy - body, mind and soul!

You look amazing and you will be a wonderful mom I wanted to ask how is your symmastia going did it get worse and are you going smaller when you deliver
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about placenta pills. I kinda wish I would have had them made after birth! Next time! I would love to read a post on your thoughts too! As with breastfeeding, a friend told me something that helped me through the pain in the beginning--"your nipples will be like leather in no time and you wont feel a thing." She was right! Love your blog! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi darling!
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow American living in London, I really enjoy hearing all about your experiences on this side of the pond. I actually got married in London last year, so I can def recommend a great photographer for when your little one gets here! Julia Boggio is an absolute gem, and by coincidence another American to boot! She is seriously talented, so I would certainly check out her website. If you need a great makeup artist then Kaz Fernando or Sarah Jagger are both Phenomenal! I highly recommend them both! Hope you enjoy your time here in London! And please feel free to give a shout if you need a recommendation for anything else!
Hugs & Kisses xoxo

ReplyDeleteJen ur a beautiful women inside and out...even more beautiful and glowing being pregnant. I have a 15mth old and he is a blessing. I had some complications and they had to induce me 2weeks early but the funny thing is he was out 3 days before induction day and I went with no epidural and no meds of no kind except the antibiotics of course but it was the most amazing experience of my life. My water broke at 9:45 while I was in the shower ironic enough lol but went to the labor room and I let nature run its course. It was super painful and hard but with enough confidence and strenght and faith It was a very fast process. I gave birth 11-25-11 at 2:42 am he was 7 lbs even and couldve been bigger but I was like very tiny and fit but short so I didnt have anymore room left for him lol but I have only 3 bad stretch marks and a few u cant tell unles u shine a flash light and play detective but ull do great. Also breast feed as long as u can. I stayed with it for 6 months only cuz he had 2teeth that came in so ouch I wasnt ganna tear my nipples up only cuz he liked to bite. Good luck And I hope the best for u and alki ur ganna love being a family. Good luck

ReplyDeletePlacenta pills I'm actually doing them. I just came across your post but think about it this way its a ling term actually natural vitamin.made from you. You can take however many at first then save the rest for.later. I'm getting.mine put.into pills.
ReplyDeleteI encapsulated my placenta and it was really really helpful. I highly recommend it. Also, I birthed naturally at a birth center. Took a Bradley class which helped prepare me for a lot. If you haven't already, look into dr Bradley's husband coached birth, Ina may gaskins books, art of breastfeeding books. All are informative. Also, raspberry leaf tea in third trimester as well as fenugreek tea to help your supply. And your last month you can look into evening primrose oil to assist with effacement. Do a lot of squats and sitting on the floor (butterflies and hip openers).
ReplyDeleteBirthing naturally and placenta encapsulation were both amazing towards helping my quick recovery and ease of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding isn't always easy. Be prepared o give your self six weeks before things click.
Good luck! Hope this info helps!
Hi! Congratulations for your pregnancy. My daughter is always watching your blog and loved to send a present for your baby Niko. She loves it. Sees your instagram all the time. I'll leave here the email from my daughter Inês (inessilva.2010.2011@ gmail.com). Sorry my English I'm Portuguese and I don't speak very well English.

ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful! What a let down about the photos, I totally understand ! I remember my first pregnancy shoot I had the same experience, but I wasn't even offer the digitals! To me, photographs are one of the most important thing! To look back, to remember the special moments! All the best in the birth of your baby boy!
ReplyDeletemany blessings! Veronica
Jennifer congrats on your pregnancy!! I am a new mom to a little boy who is 8 months old now, he is the joy of my life and I hope your little boy brings you just as much joy :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to give you a word of advice/preparation from my own experience... breastfeeding has been full of surprises for me lol so i just want to reduce your learning curve if possible!!!... just know that it's much more difficult to pump milk once your supply regulates (usually 6-12 weeks post partum. was 16 weeks for me). I also was hoping to pump more, just so I could get out the house for longer periods, but it's not worked out that way!!!
First few weeks, it's like a broken fire hydrant (in my exp!), you just think of the baby and you've wet your shirt (and the shirt of the person standing in front of you lol), but after that your body smartens up, and will usually only let down once baby is there and latched on... it's a hormonal thing, to save calories/milk once nursing is established. Some women never ever let down for the pump at all because their bodies are perfectly attuned to the baby's pheromones... they will only let down when the baby is latched on, and only produce the exact amount the baby needs at that feeding.
the good news is though, after your supply regulates, you can usually miss a feeding and give a bottle of formula or pre-frozen b-milk once a week or whatever without messing with your supply. Just something to think about. My son is 100% bf but we have experimented with formula (he is allergic to cows milk) in order to have an emergency backup, since my frozen pumped milk is nearly finished and I just can't pump more than maybe an ounce a day anymore.
Maybe build up a REALLY good freezer stash in the first months and you won't have to use formula at all! If you end up being able to pump easily!
And don't worry about the weight gain... I was BMI 21 when I got pregnant... now at BMI 19 despite eating like an actual pig lol. Bfeeding is incredible for weight loss. I am not even exercising, it's 100% bfeeding, the weight falls off especially if you have a fast metabolism to begin with. Also remember sooooo much of that weight is water... your blood volume alone doubles during the second trimester... then there's the amniotic fluid, plus the water in your tissues (body holds on to water during pg). don't beat yourself up about it.
You look absolutely stunning pregnant! You really are glowing. Looking at your pictures got my all nostalgic for my maternity pictures as we have similar body types (ALL BELLY!) and coloring (dark hair, tanned skin). I HAD to pull them out and look at them, my daughter is 18 months now, but still, it seems like so long ago that I was pregnant! It really does go by so fast, but you really seem like the type that will cherish every single moment with your little boy! Before you know it they will be an 18 month old little terror that gets into anything and everything! But, as much as they will drive you crazy occasionally, all it takes it one little smile and there is no way you can stay mad! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and I can't wait to see pictures of your little man when he is born! <3 Amanda
